our artists
Amy Zager
I have been a child of the arts all my life. I graduated from high school in the far north suburbs and immediately moved to downtown Chicago to study at The American Academy of Art. My studies were based in traditional media and heavily focused on technical accuracy. Since graduating with honors in 2009, I have continued to paint and have work on display at The Bad Apple Bar near Montrose and Lincoln and have participated in exhibitions at the Merchandise Mart and the River East Arts Center.
My interest in tattooing goes back almost as far as my interest in art. It's a form of expression that is rebellious, profound, as old as civilization, and ever-changing with our modern culture. I got my first tattoo with my mother's blessing when I was 17. I jumped right into the deep end with a 5-hour piece and haven't stopped collecting tattoos since. With my background in art and attraction to tattoos, it seems only natural that I would find myself with a tattoo machine in my hand. These days, you can find me at Fifth Sun Graphix where I'm apprenticing under Adrian G., learning the tools and tricks of the trade and leveling up my skills.
When I'm not splashing around paint and ink in the studio, I enjoy hanging out in the yard with my dog and pet rat, working out, eating tons of sushi, and getting sweaty at a good rock show.
